What Qualifies as a Net Zero Home

Jan 27, 2023 | net zero home

You’ve often heard the term “Net-Zero Emissions by 2050”, but for a home to qualify as “Net Zero” standards, there are certain requirements that have to be met.

A Net Zero Home by definition must;

  • Produce as much energy as it consumes and is up to 80% more energy efficient than a home built to conventional standards.
  • Drop your utility bills to an all-time low, and keep them in check all year round.
  • Protect you from future increases in energy prices. Over the course of years, that might prove to be a great benefit.
  • Is more durable – with high performance, built to higher standards with warm windows and better-insulated walls and roof as compared to conventional new homes.
  • Deliver exceptional comfort all year round. Advanced construction methods and materials along with superior heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment mean even temperatures throughout the house.
  • Promise exceptional indoor air quality for healthier living. A built-in filtered fresh air system reduces allergens and asthma triggers, such as dust, pollen, and outdoor air pollution.
  • Be quieter because it is tightly built and well insulated. Outside noise such as traffic, lawnmowers, and barking dogs are virtually silenced guaranteeing peaceful and comfortable living.

Achieving net-zero emissions means our economy either emits no greenhouse gas emissions or offsets its emissions, for example, through actions such as tree planting or employing technologies that can capture carbon before it is released into the air. This is essential to keeping the world safe and livable for future generations.[vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/A5-m5BQzbWw” title=”What Is A Net Zero Home?”]GrandView FXXXXF

  • B.C.’s Building Electrification Sector Needs
    British Columbia has long been considered a leader in building efficiency and decarbonization policy through the development of the B.C.
